“One Barrow, One Shovel, The Great Wheelbarrow Push”, Gaara Arts of Broken Hill commemorate the Great Wheelbarrow Races of the 1980’s. Launch by Peter Black, ex- Mayor of Broken Hill, to be introduced by Chris Harris who will also say some words of welcome to the “My World” photographers in the Bence Room. The Burra Sing Australia Choir will rouse us all with well-practiced renditions of the John Williamson songs “True Blue” and “Paint me a Wheelbarrow”.

From Terowie to Gawler, Northern Yorke Peninsula to Morgan, and including towns in between like Blyth, Clare, Auburn, Balaklava and Burra, groups have joined together 4 deep to demonstrate their strengths and display their differences.

Showing at the Burra Regional Art Gallery building in the main gallery space during April 28th to May 25th of 2011. The exhibition opens on Friday the 29th April at 7.30pm.

Their two yearly cycle coincides with the Burra Antique Fair, an event to write home about. Make a weekend of it, bring the caravan or find some accommodation hereabouts, it will be well worth the effort for all antique, collectables and quilt lovers.

Our most recent event was the opening on Saturday evening April 2nd of the Burra Regional Art Gallery Portrait Competition, by artist John Millard of Crystal Brook. He had a very difficult job choosing among the high standard of entries.

Burra Regional Art Gallery is fortunate to know and show enthusiastic artists prepared to place themselves “on the line” with portrait entries, understanding full well how folks love a likeness. Well, here we go…
