Neil Murray at Burra Regional Art Gallery

Legendary Warumpi Band founding member Neil Murray is performing at the Burra Regional Art Gallery 4.30pm Sunday 7 May. The fundraising occasion is a big effort by the gallery – a late afternoon barbecue with the ticket $35 plus a pay bar provides an opportunity to rock along in the friendly atmosphere created by Neil’s music, surrounded by the beautiful quilts from the Burra Quilters Association.

Neil was recently awarded 2017 Artist of the Year at the Port Fairy Folk Festival. He first appeared in the early eighties with the Warumpi Band, which over three albums and twenty years of performing propelled contemporary indigenous music into mainstream Australia. As well as that Neil has pursued a solo career since 1989. My Island Home, Blackfella Whitefella, Fitzroy Crossing, Jailanguru Pakarnu, Good Light In Broome, Native Born, Long Grass Band and Whispering Casuarina are just some of the iconic songs he has penned.

One of Australia’s most respected singer / songwriters, Neil Murray performs regularly at festivals and live music venues in Australia and overseas. Burra Gallery’s Exhibitions Coordinator Denise Officer – inaugural inductee into the NT Music Hall of Fame 2016 – has pulled some strings to bring him to Burra for an evening to remember.

Tickets available at the gallery Tuesday to Sunday 1pm to 4pm
