Felting workshop at Shared Arts at 15 Chapel Street Burra.
Immerse yourself in the ancient art of making felt by hand.
A one day workshop with felt and fibre artist; Maria Holst Salomonsen, on Sunday the 10th of June 2012
The workshop will provide an introduction to the felting process and the different fibres that can be used. Participants will get to design and felt their own scarf. Those with some experience with felting can explore the use of colours and patterns in our morning session where we felt a small sample piece.
The workshop will run from 9.30 am until 4.00 pm. Some materials will be provided, though participants are asked to wear comfortable working clothes (that can get wet) and to bring along the following; a piece of bubble wrap (2.3 m long and around 50-60 cm wide), a couple of old towels for soaking up soapy water, a net curtain (to place on top of your design, so it won’t move when wet; an old lace curtain can be used or spotlight sells mosquito netting by the meter), a pool noodle, 3 pieces of string about 80 cm long and a old milk or soft drink bottle with small holes in the lid for sprinkling water. All other materials and morning tea will be provided. There will be a lunch break in the middle of the day, so bring your own lunch or visit the Burra Bakery.
Workshop cost (materials included) $95.00
To secure your place, workshop fees will need to be paid in advance. Spaces are limited, so be quick and send me an email at danishdesign@live.com
