Showing a marvellous mix of 2D image-making techniques, this is a stimulating exhibition and fundraiser for the gallery. When it comes to the point, “the books must balance”. However, this intriguing display of artworks is the best surprise of all.
Watercolours by Janet Eason – note the amazing “Misty Morning, Batad” hanging next to the entry (on the other side of the wall two of three oils by Len Bence), Haley O’Shea’s country life impressions much appreciated by viewers for the splashy technique, carefully observed detail and touch of humour, Maxine Donald’s impressive “Across the Torrens” and jewel-like “Cyclamen”, Heather Parker’s “Windfarm, Hallett”, “NE Pastoral” and “Panarmittee Creek”, and Burra’s own Nan Annell’s “Autumn Leaves” and “Calla Lilies”.

Take time to closely inspect Lynda Fanshaw’s works, including “Grumpy Old Galah” in colour pencil and graphite, and Moira Lee’s delightful pastel “On the Murray” and small acrylic paintings “Barb’s Place, Point Clinton” and “On the Ledge, West Cape”.

Master of visual representation Charles Mace shows works in watercolour, oil and pastel with intriguing titles like “Double Headed” and “King of the Heap”. Gerald Moore’s “Mallee Scrub, Black Rock” and “Sheoak and Boulders” are most appealing, as are Jeanette Grosset’s “Poppies” and two maritime works “The Fleet’s In” and “Dwarfed by an Ocean Liner”.
