“Green Spotted Ducks in Natural Habitat” – detail of work in watercolour by Burra artist Glenys Christopher.
The image on the invitation is a detail of a work by Glenys Christopher. Glenys has contributed to BRAG exhibitions throughout the gallery’s existence, and in early days played an important part in its successful running.
Glenys is a force for art in Burra, opening her studio to the public at weekends, holding monthly classes, and recently donating paintings by women artists of the region, collected over recent years.
She is an inspirational member, and for many years president, of Burra Art Society. Her five yearly exhibitions in Burra Gallery show the extent of her experimentation with subject matter and technique, and as in the case of the above detail, her lightness of touch and humour.
The exhibition “Miscellany” by Glenys Christopher opens in BRAG’s Bence Room at the same time as “Art of the Flower and Garden” in the Main Gallery.
