Two prizes were awarded, one for a traditional work, the other for a contemporary or alternative work. The competition was judged by Anne Sanders and John R Walker.
A Young Artist Award in memory of Evan Hawke and donated by Burra Art Society was awarded to Harrison Hitchcock, a year 11 student from Peterborough High School. It was presented by Adrienne Matthews on behalf of BAS. Adrienne spoke of Evan’s interest and encouragement of young artists.
There are many Booborowie and Burra School primary and some secondary school student works, some of which were awarded prizes and commendations. Rosie Catt, who also judged and presented the awards, is BRAG’s school liaison officer.
Joyce Lloyd won the floral art, judged by Merrilyn Williams from Clare Flowers.
Burra Regional Art Gallery represents the artists of the mid north. As such, it is a responsibility and a pleasure to make connections with surrounding teachers, artists and art groups.
